I have been buying Columbia Bonehead shirts for my husband for many years now. He is an A/C contractor and a Maintenance Supervisor for apartment communities, the shirts get a tough work out and continued washing. They are top quality shirts that have lasted longer than most shirts would have in the professions my husband is in. Most of the people who make and sell shirts these days seem to have forgetten how useful pockets are.
Maybe it's just me, but there are essential items of everyday living that just need to have a convenient pocket in order to be close at hand.
In my case, I have to have my iPhone, my reading glasses, my driving glasses, and my writing tools. I don't carry a purse, and you can't put these things in your pants pockets.
If you rely on these things, which I do, there is no better solution than a shirt pocket. And if you live a reasonably active life that includes bending over to tie your shoes or pick up the newspaper, it helps if your shirt pockets have velcro closures.
The Columbia PFG (Performance Fishing Gear) long sleeve shirt fills the bill perfectly.
It has full sized chest pockets with velcro closures, and even a convenient half pocket for a credit card, business card, or recipts.
It is all cotton, light weight, functional, and traditional in design. You can wear it tucked in or shirttail out.
My only complaint is why did they call it "fishing gear"? They would probably sell a zillion more if they just called it an "iPhone shirt".
